I put together two more requests this morning so I was able to get a total of 3 in the mail on my way to work:

I have established a basic format to make the process a little more streamlined… although I did forget to write “Do Not Bend” on these… but we will see how it goes.

Let the games begin. I have packaged up my first attempt at an autograph and it will be going out to Darryl Strawberry in the morning. I chose his 1984 Donruss Rookie card as the item I have asked him to sign.
I am sure I will get quite a few in the mail before I hear back on this one but I am happy to have started the process.
So I did some searching online for supplies. I have decided that I would like to send 8×10 photos to have signed. I think the safest way to mail them is in Ultra Pro Toploaders.
I found them on Amazon. I think if I use these I can buy some cheaper envelopes and not have to worry about the SASE fitting in the original mailer. At the time that I am writing this, these toploaders are 19.99 for 25 (.80 ea.).
These seem to be a cheap way to go to mail out the 8x10s:
…but I’m not sure trying to fold one to include as the SASE is a going to work all that well (but it could I guess). I will continue to research. I do not want to jump into spending money until I know Ive found the best deal.

While trying to find an address for Mike Piazza, I came across the site http://FanMail.biz. They describe themselves as “The Celebrity Addresses Database”. Sounds like it could be helpful to this little project. They seem to have a ton of celebrities listed. In addition they have a message board where people post their successes. I will have to take a more in depth look and see who has contacted some of the people I am interested in.
I need to do a little research about embedding PHP in WordPress. I would like “The List” to be database driven to allow for more thorough tracking.
Hello everyone! So, I have decided to pursue what I hope will be a low-cost rewarding hobby. I am going to start with 4 of my all-time favorite sports figures: David Wright, Mike Piazza, Darryl Strawberry and Dan Marino. As you might have noticed I am a big Mets and Dolphins fan. In the future I hope to expand this pursuit outside the world of sports and include celebrities.
